Celebrate Midsummer and the brightest day of the year at Pluck Farm!

The holiday is a celebration of the summer solstice, marking the longest day of the year and the onset of summer. Midsummer is traditionally celebrated in the Nordic countries and across Europe. It’s a day that should be spent eating, drinking and playing games out in the open air with friends and family. A big part of the day is picking and decorating with flowers and greenery and binding them into flower crowns to be worn for good luck.

💐 There will be a make-your-own flower crown station starting at noon down at the Field Bar with flower crown-making demos at 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Crowns are $8 and include greenery, tools and your choice of seven flowers that were grown and plucked on Pluck Farm. The flower station will be up all day until supplies last.

🎶 Live music: Scandimonium 5-7 p.m.
This Triangle-based music group specializes in traditional and modern Nordic folk-dance tunes. The group’s instrumentation includes fiddles, nyckelharpa, mandolin, cello, accordion, keyboard and light percussion.

🛍️ Midsummer Mini Market: 4-8 p.m.
This market will feature artists and growers that tie into summer, flowers and the magic that is Midsummer.

Lawn games will be available all day long, including Kan Jam, disc golf, Cornhole as well as Kubb, a traditional Swedish lawn game popular during Midsummer celebrations.

The event is free and open to all, so bring your friends and family and join in celebrating the onset of summer! (And no, it won’t be anything like the movie …)
